Bandai & Power Rangers No More, Who Will Take Over As Master Toy License Holder???

Today in a surprising announcement Saban Brands announced that they have parted ways with long-time Power Rangers master toy license holder Bandai. Here is the official statement released by Saban.

After a successful 25-year partnership building the iconic action franchise, Power Rangers, Saban Brands and Bandai have mutually agreed not to renew their global Power Rangers master toy license agreement, effective April 2019. Bandai will continue to support Power Rangers, including the 2018 commemoration of the Power Rangers 25th anniversary and the current season, Super Ninja Steel. In addition, Bandai, through its partnership with Toei Company Ltd., will continue to exploit toy rights for the Super Sentai series, which has enjoyed over 40 years of success, in Japan and select other Asian territories.

While it is unclear who will take over the Power Rangers master toy license from Bandai, two rumors that have been making rounds as favorites are Hasbro and Jakks Pacific. We will hopefully get more details on this at Toy Fair this weekend.

Hasbro Named Global Master Toy Licensee for Saban’s Power Rangers

Yesterday we told you how Bandai who was the long time master toy license holder for Power Rangers and Saban had parted ways, and now we know that Hasbro will be taking over. See the official press release below:

Today, Hasbro, Inc. (NASDAQ:HAS), a global play and entertainment company, and Saban Brands announced that Hasbro has been named the global master toy licensee for Saban’s Power Rangers. Under the terms of the agreement and in collaboration with Saban Brands, Hasbro will design, produce and bring to market a wide variety of toys, games and role play items inspired by the franchise and its entertainment properties. Hasbro will hold the worldwide rights, excluding Japan and certain other Asian markets, effective as of April 1, 2019.

Created by Haim Saban and launched in 1993, Mighty Morphin Power Rangers quickly became a pop culture phenomenon. Today, Power Rangers is one of the longest running kids’ live-action series in television history with nearly 900 episodes produced to date. The TV series, currently in its 25th season with Power Rangers Super Ninja Steel, and feature films, including 2017’s movie with Lionsgate, follows the adventures of a group of ordinary teens who morph into superheroes and save the world from evil. Saban’s Power Rangers currently airs in 150 markets around the world and is translated into numerous languages.

The first set of products from Hasbro will be available in spring 2019. Both Hasbro and Saban Brands are dedicated to continue growing this iconic brand. In recognition of this investment, during a period of time after Hasbro becomes the master toy licensee, the arrangement between the parties provides Saban Brands and Hasbro with the opportunity to initiate Hasbro’s purchase of the Power Rangers property.

Pues nada, ya podemos cruzar dedos para que Bandai relance todos los protas en SH Figuarts de aquí a Abril de 2019 con eso del 25 aniversario. No porque sea Bandai, si no porque los clásicos son los únicos que me interesa, y está claro que Hasbro (que por cierto no es que sea mi marca favorita, hace cosas bien mediocres) entra porque Saban quiere darle mayor valor a los power ranger más actuales... Saban no se da cuenta que los clásicos venden por el factor nostálgico y que todo lo que vino después fue pura basura y eso no lo vende ni dios resucitado xD

Pues me gustaría mucho que hicieran un revival de estas figuras, ya sea revival normal o que metan las cabezas sin el casco como se ha visto. No pude hacerme con ellos cuando salieron y la verdad es que ahora están a unos precios imposibles, para la gente que los tenga una pregunta, por cuanto precio salieron estas figuras? me refiero al primer precio no ha precios de especuladores y demás...

Pues yo que vosotros pillaria al Dragonzord por la noticia que puse hace unos dias, Bandai va a dejar de ser la que tenga la licencia, por lo que dudo que antes de que cumpla el plazo (2019) saquen un restock de esta.

 

La put...da va a ser conseguir ahora el Megazord que esta carillo y agotado en todas las tiendas, y a saber si sacaran a todos los protagonistas con esos rostros o unicamente a Jason y a Tommy.

justo cuando me consigo a estos rangers usados a aun precio "razonable" me sale con estas bandai... los odio peor los amo jajajajaja tambien caeran o en lo posible los reemplazare si es que llegan a salir todos...

SI la licencia pasa a hasbro, juguetera enfocada a crios , se nos viene una bajada de calidad en los robots ...afortundamente hasta ahora compre todos los legacy y encargue el dragonzord soul of chogokin...pero despidamonos de un SHOGUN megazord legacy .

Una lastima , porque los diferentes shogunzords requerian movilidad en sus articulaciones para parecerse a los zords de la serie en si ...

 

EN fin, la perdida de licencia significa la perdida de calidad de los legacy zords y la desaparicion de estos , hasbro se enfocara en lanzar los zzords para crios no para coleccionistas

Ojo, @neouchiha09, como dije Bandai pierde la licencia para vender fuera de Japon, pero seguira fabricando figuras de la serie original japonesa, asi que no nos alarmemos, Bandai seguira sacando figuras, aunque la unica opcion que tendremos sera importar de Japon.

We’ve received a press release from Hasbro, detailing their latest acquisitions.

Back during Toy Fair 2018, word came out that Hasbro was set to acquire the Power Rangers license, after decades of products from Bandai.

This license acquisition could eventually have lead to Hasbro outright owning the Power Rangers brand by buying it from Haim Saban.

Well, that came to fruition even faster, as Hasbro has completed a deal to completely purchase the Power Rangers brand, and others !

Some of the other brands include 80’s icons My Pet Monster and Popples among others.

Hasbro to Acquire Saban Brands’ Power Rangers and Other Entertainment Assets

LOS ANGELES & PAWTUCKET, R.I.– Hasbro (NASDAQ: HAS), a global play and entertainment company, and Saban Properties LLC today announced that the companies have signed a definitive agreement for Hasbro to purchase Saban’s Power Rangers and several other entertainment brands, including My Pet Monster, Popples, Julius Jr., Luna Petunia, Treehouse Detectives and others, in a combination of cash and stock valued at $522 million.
