Theatrical animation "The Rose of Versailles" Lady Oscar

17 September 2022

It has been decided that Riyoko Ikeda's "The Rose of Versailles" will be made into a completely new theatrical animation. A teaser visual and promotional video have been lifted.

Set in the era of the French Revolution, "The Rose of Versailles" is a story about the love and life of Oscar François de Jarger, a beautiful man dressed as a man, and Marie Antoinette, an innocent queen who married from neighboring Austria. It was serialized in Weekly Margaret (Shueisha) from 1972 to 1973, and in addition to being made into a stage play by the Takarazuka Revue, it was also made into a TV animation and a movie.

The teaser visual shows Oscar and Marie Antoinette, along with the catchphrase "Fierce, beautiful, and alive." In the special report, the original manga and teaser visual were projected along with classical music, and the finish was filled with nostalgia and expectations for theatrical animation.
